This class will look at why and how the Southeastern Conference formed and the history and traditions of all 14 schools.  We will also study why three charter members withdrew from the conference and issues facing the conference today.

Mark Windham is a professor and distinguished chair of ornamental plant pathology in the Department of Entomology and Plant Pathology.  Mark teaches classes in introductory plant pathology, diseases of ornamental plants, and diseases of forest trees.  His current research interests are with diseases of dogwoods, roses and hydrangeas.  Mark has been a follower of SEC football for many decades and is a fan of 13 of 14 schools (Mississippi State grad, so figure out the one missing).  Mark gives numerous talks for UT alumni chapters, various sports related societies, private businesses and other SEC schools each year.
